With the recent escalation in the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the Global Fire Power website, a consultancy specializing in defense issues that annually compiles a ranking of military power, has conducted a study on the assets of the world’s leading nations.

Where Israel sits on military ranking

In creating this ranking, the website takes into account more than 60 individual factors to determine the PowerIndex score, ranging from the number of military units to the total amount of available weaponry, logistical factors, and the country’s geographic considerations. The portal ranked 145 countries, with the United States, maybe unsurprisingly, sitting top, with Russia, China and India next. Israel is ranked 18th.

United States military

As the analysis shows, the United States continues to deliver commanding numbers in key material, financial, and resource categories. “The country leads the world technologically and is advanced in key medical, aerospace, and computer / telecom sectors while maintaining an edge in several major industry markets allowing for a certain degree of self-sustainment,” it states.

Israel’s 18th place is just one less than that of Iran, with the GFP doing a side-by-side comparison.
